The Practice

Four disciplines, held to one standard.

The work falls into four related disciplines. In practice they rarely arrive in isolation — a valuation leads to a transition; a sourcing relationship deepens into curation. What remains constant is the standard of diligence behind each.

I

Acquisition & Valuation

When a cellar changes hands — through a sale, an estate, consolidation, or simply a change of heart — Parcel Seven buys collections outright and provides clear, market-informed valuations.

A valuation is only as good as the diligence beneath it. We assess not merely what a collection contains, but how it has been kept — because condition and provenance, far more than a label, determine what a bottle is genuinely worth. Where a sale is intended, we can act as principal and purchase the cellar directly, sparing the holder the friction and exposure of the open market.

For estates and fiduciaries, we provide written valuations suitable for insurance, probate, division, and planning — clear, defensible, and entirely confidential.

II

Cellar Curation

Hands-on advice for building, refining, and looking after serious collections — with intention, depth, provenance, and patience.

A cellar should reflect its owner — their palate, their table, and the horizon over which they intend to drink. We work alongside collectors to shape holdings with architecture: verticals worth completing, drinking windows worth respecting, and the restraint to leave room for what has not yet been made.

Stewardship continues long after acquisition. We help maintain accurate inventory, monitor maturity, and edit a collection over time — releasing what has peaked, securing what is becoming scarce, and keeping the whole coherent.

III

Global Sourcing

Finding rare and hard-to-source bottles through long-standing relationships with domaines, négociants, collectors, and trusted holders worldwide.

The most interesting wines rarely reach a public listing. They move between people who know one another, on terms that reward trust and timing. Over years we have built those relationships carefully, and we treat them as a trust to be protected rather than spent.

When a client is seeking something specific — a vintage, a format, a back-vintage of real provenance — we pursue it quietly and verify it thoroughly before it is ever proposed. If it cannot be authenticated to our satisfaction, it is not offered.

IV

Estate & Collection Advisory

For collections of meaningful scale — held by collectors, estates, or a family office — where a cellar is also an asset that deserves proper oversight.

A significant collection asks for the same rigour as any other holding of value: accurate inventory, current valuation, insurance awareness, and a considered plan for succession or sale. We work alongside owners and their advisers to bring that discipline to the cellar without spoiling the pleasure of it.

When the time comes to move a collection on — by sale, division, or gift — we manage the process end to end, with care, and with the owner's privacy respected throughout.

The engagement

How a relationship unfolds.

No two mandates are alike, but most move through the same considered sequence. We rarely hurry it.

  1. Initial conversation

A short, relaxed conversation to understand what you hold, what you are after, and the horizon it is meant to serve.

  2. Collection review

A careful look at the cellar as it stands — its shape, its strengths, and the gaps worth addressing.

  3. Provenance & condition assessment

Storage history, chain of custody, and physical condition, established before any figure or recommendation is offered.

  4. Market context

Where relevant, current pricing, liquidity, and trajectory — the market intelligence that informs a sound decision.

  5. Recommendation or acquisition proposal

A clear written view: what to acquire, hold, release, or value — and on what terms, with nothing left implicit.

  6. Execution

We carry out the agreed course in full, keep you informed throughout, and remain available long after it is done.

Diligence

What we establish before we advise.

The same questions sit behind every discipline. We answer them first, and we answer them properly.
