How we work
Exacting by nature. Discreet by habit.
Every engagement is shaped around one client and one question. What does not change is how we approach the work.
Four steps, taken carefully.
1. Understand.
We begin with the matter at hand, the people involved and what a good outcome looks like. We will say plainly whether we are the right fit.
2. Examine.
We review the wines, provenance, condition, records, market and any practical considerations.
3. Advise.
You receive a clear recommendation, with the reasoning behind it.
4. Follow through.
Where useful, we stay involved through the decision and its execution, for one project or over time.
The standard behind the work
Seven parcels, one clear standard.
- Close knowledge
- Provenance first
- Access through relationships
- Judgment, explained
- Wine belongs at the table
- Discretion is assumed
- Your interests come first
Clear roles and clear interests
The client and the basis of the advice are always clear.
Parcel Seven may be retained by collectors, producers or professional advisors. Each engagement has one client, and our role is stated clearly from the outset.
We do not own or hold wine, import or distribute it, or sell from our own stock. We do not accept referral fees or commissions from merchants, auction houses, storage companies or other providers.
When we source for a collector, we act on the collector’s behalf. If Parcel Seven has a producer relationship that is relevant to a recommendation, we disclose it before proceeding. The collector may decline that recommendation or ask for alternatives.
This allows us to work across the wine world while keeping the client, and the basis of the advice, clear.
Experience and reach
Years in the cellar. Relationships at the source.
The advice draws on practical experience in cellars and tasting rooms, at auction, alongside merchants and in the vineyards themselves. We keep close to the wines and the market so clients receive current, grounded judgment.
Client relationships remain private.
Clients across North America. Relationships across the wine world.
Our clients
Most clients live in the United States and Canada, and many keep wine in more than one place. We work in person and remotely, wherever the cellar is held.
